不思議に流行った『紙せっけん』 [雑貨]
ロケットペンシルのように「なんであんなに夢中になったんだろう？」ってものは、ほじくり返せばいくらでも出てくるよね（笑）。たとえば『紙せっけん』。当時の紙石けんは、透明の固形石けんを薄く削いで作った原始的なもので、ちょっと力を入れただけでバラバラに砕けてしまう代物だった。いろんな色があって、香りもいろいろだったと思うんだけど、それがメーカーによる違いだったのか、同じメーカーが複数の香りのものを生産していたのかまでは思い出せないなぁ。覚えてる人は教えてね。今嗅いだら相当にチープな匂いなんだろうけど、女の子の中には石けんとして使わずに、ランドセルにしのばせたり、ノートや教科書に挟んで香りを楽しむ子も結構、いたよね。
種類がいろいろだったからなんだろうな、女の子同士では、よく交換してたよね。女子と石けんの交換ができる男子は、女子に人気がある子として一目置かれてたし（笑）。苦労して手に入れたレアな紙石けんを献上して、相手の気を引こうと涙ぐましい努力をする子もいたし。もちろん手も洗ったんだけど、男女入り乱れて紙石けんを集めているうちに、石けん本来の目的とはまったく違う用途に使われるようになっていったのが『紙せっけん』ブームの面白いところだった。台紙に24枚の紙石けんがついて30円。まあ、お小遣いで手の届くギリギリのところだったかな。ブーム自体は香りのついた消しゴムなんかも登場していつの間にか終わっていたんだけど、紙石けんはその後も駄菓子屋や雑貨店の定番商品として生き延び、現在もカンタンに手に入れることができる。ブームも度々発生しているようで、現在中３のぼんくら娘が小学生４年生の頃に紙石けんを集めていて驚いたことがある。
最近では、ウイルス対策用の携帯石けんとしても評価が高まっているというから、もっとビックリしてしまう。仕様も従来のものから、特殊加工を施した絹の繊維を混ぜて本当の紙のように折り曲げられるものまで多様化している。ボクらの流行らせた「遊び」は、ひょっとするとパンデミックから世界を救うことになるかもしれないのだ。

アレルギーなので、１０年ほど前から
石鹸を自分で手作りしておりますが、
ウイルス対策用の石鹸とは、驚きました！
そういえば去年あたり、お部屋や車の中に置くだけで
ウイルスが消滅するというのを近所の薬局で見ました
けれども、もう直ぐ実現するかもですね～！！

私も「紙せっけん、フン、あんなもの馬鹿な女子が集めるもの、男はあんなもの興味がないのさ」と言っていたクチでして、たまに友達の家に行って、そこの妹の紙石鹸があると、ちょっと使わせてくれる？
と言っていたのも私でした。
あれは石鹸といいながら、あまり泡立たなかったのでは？
ロケットペンシルも買ってもらえなかったのですが、だんだん廃れてきたころ、教室の中の落し物をこっそりもらってしまっていたので、使った経験はあります。
