フランスキャラメル

　ブロ友のマナサビイさんからリクエストを頂いたので、今日もノースキャロライナの先輩格に当たる不二家の『フランスキャラメル』を取り上げるね。
　フランスキャラメルが発売されたのは、なんと昭和９年(1934)のことだ。トリコロール(３色)をベースに金髪で巻き毛の女の子の顔がデンと印刷されたインパクトのある箱だった。
　味もひとつの箱にバニラとチョコ、コーヒーの３種類が入っていたんだけど、ぼんくら家では妹と弟がバニラとチョコしか食べなかったので、兄貴としては不本意ながらコーヒー味を取るしかなかった。その反動なんだろうね、ぼんくらオヤジは、未だにアイスはバニラのシングルだよ。
　ところでこの顔だけの女の子だけど、どうやらシャーリー・テンプルをモデルにしているらしい。「らしい」というのは、方々で断定的な記事がある一方で、肝心の不二家はまったくこれに言及していないからだ。
　シャーリーは昭和３年(1928)の生まれだ。フランスキャラメルの発売年には６才になっていたし、その頃には名子役の地位を確立していて日本でも大人気だったから不二家がキャラのモデルにしても不思議はないんだけど、ぼんくらオヤジの印象では、あくまで参考にしただけなんじゃなかろうかという気がする。写真のシャーリーと箱の女の子がどうしても同一人物にはみえないんだよなぁ。まあ根拠のないお話なんだけど、こういう想像も楽しみのうちだよね♪
　シャーリーは82才の今も名士として元気に暮らしてるけど、フランスキャラメルは、いつ製造が中止されたのかいくら調べても分からないぐらい静かに歴史の闇に消えていった。
　そういやフランスキャラメルに限らず、欧米文化に対する憧れが強かったのか、商品のキャラクターや雑誌は金髪で青い眼のモデルさんばっかりだったよね（笑）。昭和は間違いなく『舶来品』という言葉が高級感を伴って燦然と輝いていた「欧米か！」の時代だった。

このフランスキャラメル。
箱がヨーロピアンで、初めて見た時はなんとなくミステリーな感覚を受けた覚えが・・・
姉と二人で頬張っていました。
で、彼女。。。
また何を思ったのか、この箱の女の子と同じヘアースタイルに・・・
妹はおデブ気味だった彼女に、言うまでもなく『何かが違うんだよね〜君！』と言いたくなってしまったのでした。
もちろん、言いませんでしたけど・・・（恐怖；）

後年に、モデルの女の子は、シャーリー・テンプルだとか耳にしたことがありましたが、大阪万博で初めて異人さんに出会った極東の小国民としては、このキャラメルは、不二家が佛蘭西から輸入した舶来モンとばかり思って、押戴いて食べてました(笑)

復活希望商品のオンパレードですね。というか、不二家のお菓子、ドップリ[__黒ハート]だったんだなぁ！ミルキーも好きだったし、パラソルチョコやペンシルチョコ、ポップキャンディーも食べたし…　ミルキーの手提げ箱？（目玉[目玉]が動くボタン）って、お出かけの時に買ってもらっていたような。

三色って聞くと、三色アイスも思い出します[__ひらめき]。チョコ・バニラ（バナナかな？）・イチゴの三色のアイス。１本で３つの味が楽しめるスグレモノでした。フランスキャラメルも１箱で３つの味が楽しめるスグレモノ…のはずだったんでしょうが、幼い頃の私たちには大人の味のコーヒー[__喫茶店]は、ちと不人気だったかもね（＾＾；今食べたら「全部コーヒーだったらいいのに！」と思うかも。

すっかり忘れていましたが、ありました！フランスキャラメル。不二家の製品だったんですね。
なんとなく外国の有難～いお菓子…と思っていました。

ワタシもバニラ味がいちばん好きでした~[晴れ]
バニラ味といいながら、バニラアイスの味とかとは全然違う、ちょっと変わった風味だったんですよネ。
でも、な〜んかおいしかった [ラブラブハート]
チョコ味もコーヒー味も、好きでしたけどネ^^b
あ、ちなみにワタシは一人っ子だったので、ほぼひとりじめ状態でした。。。スミマセンっ[汗汗]

でもまさかそんなに古い商品だったとは意外！

バニラで思い出しましたが、「ユングフラウ」というこれまた外国への憧れいっぱいのネーミングのアイス（レディボーデン系の高価アイスだったような？！違うかな？！）もありましたよネ [ニコニコ]

[メール]りみっとさん、ぼんくらも不二家のお菓子を散々食べていたことに、今さらのように気付いて驚いています。ペコちゃんの目玉が動くミルキーの箱ですよねぇ、覚えてますよ♪　懐かしいなぁ！　三色アイスもありましたよねぇ。これは取り上げなきゃいけないお菓子かもしれません。あ、やっぱりコーヒー味がお好きじゃなかったんですか^^;　記事にも書きましたが、妹や弟がコーヒー味を決して食べようとしなかったので、自動的に兄貴のぼんくらはコーヒー味しか口に入らなかったんですよ（泣）。フランスキャラメルのコーヒー味は香ばしい風味とクセになる苦みがしっかりありましたから、今食べたら結構、病みつきになるかもしれません。子どもの頃は仕方なしに食べていて、大人になった時には無いなんて、世の中、上手くいきませんねぇ！

[メール]斗夢さん、いったいどこの国の雑誌だと思うぐらい、ファッション雑誌のほとんどは外人モデルばっかりでしたよね（笑）。未だに包装紙やバッグの中には、外国の新聞紙を背景にしているものがありますが、あれも同じ発想でしょうねぇ。その文字が読める人の立場に立ったら、あんなにウザいデザインもないでしょうに。日刊ゲンダイや朝日新聞で同じことをやったら、それがどんなにダサいか分かりそうなもんですが^^;;;

[メール]たろすさん、「もこもこアイス」、覚えてます！　グリコから「もこもこアイス」っていう名前のものが出ていたって情報もあるんですが、ぼんくらが覚えてるのは森永の「マジックアイス」のほうです。冷凍して缶のフタを開けるとアイスがモコモコと飛び出してくる不思議な代物でした（笑）　なんでも缶詰に炭酸ガスが仕込んであるだけの単純な仕組みだったようなんですが、兄妹でモコモコ出てくるアイスを見ちゃ際限もなく笑い転げていました。なんであんなに面白かったのかな^^;

[メール]マナサビイさん、とんでもないです！　大切なことを思い出させて頂いたんですから御礼を申し上げるのはぼんくらのほうです。ありがとうございました！　ホントに歴史のある商品だったんですねぇ、ぼんくらも驚きました。Miluさんへの返信にも書きましたが、ぼんくらが子どもの頃に既に「なんか古っぽいお菓子だなぁ」って印象を持った記憶があるんですよ。あの感触って間違ってなかったんですね♪　「ユングフラウ」については以前に別の方からコメントでお問い合わせを頂いたことがあるんですが、その時は分かりませんでした^^;　家庭で作るアイスクリームミックスじゃないかという情報もお寄せ頂いたんですが、残念ながらこれも確認できませんでした。引き続き調べてみますね^^

コクのある滋味、波紋が広がるように舌に溶けていく深みのあるまろやかさ.....不二家フランスキャラメルは小生の幼き日の味だ。
もっとも小学校中学年ともなるとこうしたキャラメル類を「甘っトロくて嫌だ」と毛嫌いするようになり、自宅ではフランスキャラメルをポンポン、流しに投げ捨てて母親からこっぴどく叱られたのも甘酸っぱい思い出です―今を去ること三十数年前のことで、時効になって久しいと思うので大っぴらに言わせてもらいました（苦笑）。
その当時の小生は、前思春期に向かう疾風怒濤の時期で、やり場のない複雑な感情や妨げられたイドの進行をそうした狂ったエネルギーに向けていたものと分析する次第です。
そして今、複雑怪奇な現世に安らぎを求めるべく昭和レトロが静かなブームですが、そうした潮流に乗じて不二家さんにフランスキャラメルの再販を是非切望している所です。もし再販されようものなら、同品を噛みながら脳波にはα波を分泌させ、糖分の持つ思考力回復を生かして「日本語教師」としての教案作成も捗るのは明白ではないでしょうか。
